Asami Ishimaru spent the first half of her twenty plus year career in finance with the fixed income departments of Lehman Brothers and Goldman Sachs. In 1991, she transitioned to the hedge fund industry and was a pioneer in introducing hedge fund products to Japanese financial institutions. In 1996, she co-founded a hedge fund of funds management firm that exclusively targeted Japanese institutional investors and built the business into a successful multi-fund manager with wide distribution across Japan. Since the sale of her firm in 2007, she has been advising investors on hedge fund investments and an active angel investor in US and Japanese companies. She holds a BA from Harvard University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
